Sharks...

Posted March 20th, 2009 at 02:53 by ILDiver
Recently the media made a big fuss over a Tiger Shark that was killed 9 months ago. Then the public decided on their view regardless of facts, just what they "know had to be true".

Craig Clasen killed this tiger shark 9 months ago. Ryan McInnis has had video footage of the incident since then. The footage that all the news agencies has (all 60 seconds or so) came from Ryan and that is the only footage in public. Yet with the limited video the public has seen, they INSIST...

I had to have a dive buddy, which is great since this would be my first time in the pacific ocean. My dive buddy was Aloha Gannon. Aloha had an equipment issue and told me to follow Kimi and Garrett out and he would meet up with me. Sounded easy enough, except I had never cut through breakers before. I was checking out the fish and turtles on the way out while still keeping an eye on Kimi and Garrett's floats. I was trying to stay close, but I was easily distracted in my new environment. Once...

FL plans firming up, hello Iowa

Posted March 12th, 2009 at 10:28 by slimsteve
Well it appears the goal of participating in a tourney will not come to fruitition as I have not seen a post for the tourney I was hoping for. It appears 3 degrees of seperation may have found me a couple of Key Largo locals to act as guide and perhaps some affordable acommadations via a never met relative-in-law.
I am still open and would really enjoy meeting some new people hopefully from this site or the spearboard site. What really would be cool was if some of the midwestern divers I...

Lost in the planning

Posted March 8th, 2009 at 19:51 by slimsteve
Woke up for the second day in a row by the soft muffled sound of rain on the canvas window awning. The yin of the rain balances the yang of warmer then normal tempetures. Spring fever is starting to waken, stirring a primal urge to do something. The unconciouss passing has not taken over yet but I know its coming. To help keep it under control I plan and shop.
I use the excuse of trying to save a dime as I shop for probably unneeded gear so I can surf all the dive shops on line. I day...
