Cool sounds good, also on SpearBoard and Waves With Weapons on MySpace. I hit the south end of CDM every saturday morning about 8 with my buddy. Also down for some kayak diving if anyone else has a 'yak.

Re: newport beach, ca area

yeah man it looked pretty nice. on our way back in, there was SO MUCH activity in the shallows where the sand met the rock.. i saw corbina, white seabass, HUGE rays (4ft+ wingspan), leopards, sand sharks, etc. it was definitely a nice day.

i ended up nailing a corbina after following it for about a minute or so.. finally caught a nice side view of him and let him have it. finally grabbed him after pinning him on the bottom, and introduced him to my knife

nice meeting you alvin, sean, and matt. it was a good day.. i learn more and more about that spot on each dive. here are some pictures of sean with his corbina, and the second picture is my corbina.. i measured it out and he was pretty nice sized at 19 inches.

ok it was me, and then the guy that started talking to you when you shot the ray.. was my buddy andy. hes not on the forum (not yet anyway)..

then there was alvin (xahx on here), he had the riffe gun and a full wetsuit and hood on.. and his buddy sean who was pictured with that corbina, whom i dont think is on the forum either. i think they both had full suits and hoods on actually, i dont remember.

not a bad day though.

to add to it its about $60 for the round trip on the ferry. and then about a 30 min walk to the dive spots.

Re: newport beach, ca area

I'll probably dive Crystal Cove or Corona Del mar, more likely Crystal Cove as Corona Del mar hasnt been producing much lately. I'm game for Cat. or just about anywhere from DP to PV if we have a group goin out. If anyone wants to do some drops on weekday afternoons drop me an e-mail by lunch time and I'll get back to you before i get off at 4:30, I work IT so I'm on the computer most of the day.

Re: newport beach, ca area

I've got family on Catalina, if we have a small group (5 or less) I may be able to get us a ride from avalon to other spots on the island, or at least borrow a few kayak's.
