Hello all
I'm new to the forum and spearfishing in general. Really enjoy the variety of knowledge and expertise here. I live in San Diego. Question is, how do I know where I CAN and CAN'T spearfish? One of my big concerns is, are there guidelines to how far away from swimming and surf areas we need to be when spearfishing? I can't seem to find info online. Thanks for any and all feedback. |

Hello, welcome to the forums and to spearfishing! Here is a potentially helpful link for spearing regs http://forums.deeperblue.net/califor...regs-more.html.
I'd suggest following the local laws and using your common sense. The laws on such things are often unwritten. Stay far enough away from swimmers and surfers that they don't feel threatened. Keep an eye on them, and if they seem uncomfortable, consider moving a bit further away. You may want to consult your local fish and game office if you have questions about specific locations. Good luck, and welcome
