Telegraph Cove Campground:

Located one-half kilometre from the Resort Office, a ten-minute stroll up the hill. Nestled in a stand of old-growth trees our campground has over 120 serviced sites available to the discerning camper and RV enthusiast. As an added attraction, the campers like to invite visitors staying at the resort to a "potluck" dinner every Sunday evening during July and August. The campground contains a Laundromat, washrooms, showers, firewood for the nightly wiener roast, and a sani-dump. There are treed, partially treed, and field sites available. There are two small creeks running along either side of the campground and a short trail through the woods leads to Bauza Cove. Rates are based on one tent, camper, or trailer per site with a maximum of two adults. Children under ten are free and there is a 10% discount for stays over thirty nights.

Full Service (water, electricity and sani): 26.00 per night
Partial Service (water and electricity): 25.00 per night
Basic Service (water): 21.00 per night

Extra unit per night: 10.00
Extra person charge per night: 1.50
Taken From: http://www.telegraphcoveresort.com/lodging.html

Sounds like a pretty good deal!

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

That looks fine. However, Eric Moe's cabins will be multi-person as well I believe, and the cost might work out not too far off camping costs for those who are interested. He said that he will accomodate 20 people, with hot tubs/sauna and his INCREDIBLE cooking and access to dive boats.
Peace,
Erik Y.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Erik,

Jon woke me up to this thread. I don't read the forum at thoroughly as I should.

This sounds like a trip of a lifetime. The Mrs. is getting itchy for kids; so she has given me free reign to sew the oats. I will be returning on June 2 from a one-week trip to the lil' Cayman with Connor. If I can make it to your gig for under 1K, I'll be in (if you'll have me). I intend to make the bosses sorry for the 5 weeks of vacation they agreed upon.

I'll start researching airfare. Within a week or two, I will be able to give you a definite yes or no. If yes, I'll be willing to put my money down for my space. Man-o-man, I hope to make this......

Ted

*edit: If I'm lucky enough to be there, I'll have a my new 8.0mp digital camera w/ 4gb memory (and uw housing, of course). Takes 1024x768 video.

Nice pictures. Just in case anyone saw the Telegraph cove pictures on the above website..don't be confused as this is not the same Telegraph cove where the dive trip is going to launch from.

Just a bump - let us know specifics as you learn them - I want to locate as proximate to good diving as possible.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Will do Chris- as soon as I know, I'll post all the info. Where we will be will be like nothing you've ever seen, I promise. My favourite diving anywhere, and I've been: Egypt, Persian Gulf, Indonesia, Volcano in Sumatra, lakes in Canada, Mexican Riviera, caves in Mexico, English Channel.
Hang in there amigos.
Peace,
Erik Y.

I'll PM Andy's newest info to you, compadre. Last I heard he was busy about to be a Father. But you know how it goes when nobody writes, no one calls....

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Well, here's the news about the Cabins at Telegraph Cove.. I've cut/pasted the email I got back from the owner:

Sorry for the delay, but it has been a busy couple of months. The rate for 10 guests and over to a maximum of 18 will be $155 per person per day. This includes accomodations, 3 hearty meals, snacks and soft drinks throughout the day. I have a new watermaker this year so lots of excellent drinking water as well, better than bottled! Extra costs are transportation from Telegraph Cove to our camp and back via water taxi and will be less than $100 per person per trip. If the group arrival at Tel Cove can be coordinated to allow chartering one complete boat, the rate will be less. Daily transportation around the area to the various sites is based on fuel costs only. Almost all fishing charters and other tour operators have taken this approach due to variable fuel costs. We simply run a tab for both boats. As you well know, the area is exceptional so there is no requirement for lengthy trips other than to visit native sites or the museum at Echo Bay for example. Last season guests were catching halibut right off the dock!
Advise me as to how your group is arriving on the island, via car/ferry or flying to Victoria/Comox and I can help with logistics of travel to Telegraph Cove and back.

In addition to the sauna and hot tub, I have also just purchased a commercial smoker and vacuum bagging equipment for guests to use. So if you wish to process your catch for taking home, it is available on a consumables cost recovery basis.

Will be another 2-3 weeks before the new barge is in the water, but it is coming together very nice.
Talk to you soon...
Eric Moe

Well, that is way out of my budget dudes. If I had the dough to throw around, I'd do it as Eric M is a great guy and phenomenal cook, but I don't.
I will be camping, and I suggest we try to arrange/pre-book etc. Let's look back at some of the posts with links and figure something out.
Peace,
Erik Y.
