Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Hey all, I'm interested in going on this trip. There's an outside chance that I can go. Question is, does anyone driving up from Vancouver have room in their vehicle? I'd be willing to throw in for gas.

My daughter and I will be flying into Vancouver, renting a car etc. etc. I'll post specific times when I have them.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Great! If it works out for me, I'll probably be arriving in Vancouver by train. I'll solidify my plans as things work out.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

So how far is Telegraph Cove from Sayward?

Just heard a old guy shot a Grizz in his backyard there this weekend, paid a little to much attention to his grand daughter

But remember boys and girls, No G-Bears on Van Isle

(just thought I'd give Jim yet another thing to worry about )

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

ummm... Sayward IS on Vancouver Island only a 150-200km south of Telegraph Cove. So, there should not have been a grizzly bear shot there... article?

Grizzly shot on Vancouver Island
Last updated May 15 2006 11:04 AM PDT
CBC News
A grandfather from the small Island community of Sayward said he had to shoot a grizzly bear on his property this weekend.

Fred Bellerby said the bear showed up at his home on Saturday afternoon while his young granddaughter was playing outside.

"Here comes this bear and they are fast. This field is is about 300 yards of cleared field below the house, and it covered that in no time flat.

"It came up the field and just behind the house, about 50 feet away from the house there was a fence. and it attempted to go through the fence."

Bellerby said he ran and got a his rifle and shot the animal, and then called conservation officers.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

You need a passport or citizenship card these days to go from Canada to the US, at least for Canadians... So, unless there some odd bias, Americans returning probably require one of those as well.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Looks like photo id and proof of residence - so, drivers license and birth cert probably.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

You used to need photo ID & proof of citizenship, but in the last few months they upgraded the requirement to a passport. However, the custom official may let you through without passport, if he is nice.... at least that is how it works going from Canada to the U.S.
