Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

The place we're potentially staying is owned by an ex-airline pilot/techdiver who was severely injured and no longer scubadives. I'm sure he'll have some knowledge about local diving/shops etc.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

hey guys. so, yeah, i'm very intrested about the trip you're talking about. there are some major set backs that i have before i could even really think about coming, lol. for instance.. i have no freediving gear whatsoever, i've never freedived, and getting there may be a problem. i was wondering if any of you guys have an extra/old wetsuit that you would not be using for this trip. i'm really intrested in freediving/spearfishing, but i'm planing on buying all my gear when i have enough cash flow.... and i don't want to buy a cheap-o wetsuit. currenly i have around $200, and by june... i would have enough to buy all other supplise i would need(cheap ones, but it would work). like fins, boots, mask, ect. by the way i live down in portland, oregon, usa. my mother would be able to drive me up there, i hope.

i guess if you have an old/unused wetsuit could you pm me? i don't know how they size them, but i'm like 6ft and a waste.. of skinny-ish. i'll acutally messure myself, i guess, if anyone has one.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

I have an extra suit, picasso apnos, plus I have an extra pair of smoothskin picasso bottoms. I am 6'1 and the picasso is slightly short for me, but I used it for quite a while. Essentially it works.

Cheers

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

This is all making me feel very bad. Being one of them compulsive/obsessive sorts, I just can't do things on such a spur of the moment. Six months out is very immediate to me. Blast! Oh, well, as one who loves Canada, here's a verse from the song that should have been the national anthem:

Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage,
To see the hand of Franklin reaching o'er the Beaufort Sea.
And trace one warm line through a land so wild and savage,
And take the Northwest Passage to the sea!

Y'all have fun, eh? And don't forget to report back!

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Well folks - this looks like a fab trip. Whilst i'd love to be able to hop on a plane and join ya I can't...

However - I will package up a load of T-Shirts and other goodies to send over to you folks for the weekend as it seems to be an almost exclusive DBer trip!

Erik - if you're the head honco on this shall I send the stuff to you?

Finally - i'd LOVE to have someone write an article or two on the trip to post to the main site. Who's up for it?

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

I have arrived in Vancouver today and found myself at the pool with other people training here. Amusingly, it appears more people around the world know about this trip than those local to the area.

I couldn't help but put a little seed out in the group, so who knows there may be interest from locals too. Imagine.

My daughter and I will start walking tomorrow.

Hopefully we'll get there early and start catching things for Eric to eat.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Hi Stephan,

I may not be able to stay for the whole week, but I can write something about the kick-off (first 4-5 days). Perhaps you want to entice one of the people in the group who write thousands of posts to take up the torch of contributing to Deeperblue? I guess I'm a delinquent writer who refuses to be rehabilitated.

Anyone want to volunteer as the official photog?

Pete

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

I'll step up to take pics, I'm bringing my scuba gear and won't be able to freedive everyday (will just be on the tail end of my knee's rehab) , so if someone wants to donate some UW still/Video equip I'll run it an make sure I get some pics of the diver's/enviro. I have very limited topside photo equip (basic non-SLR digital).
