Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

I'll be bringing at least one camera - and I can write something as well - or better yet; have my daughter write something. I'll definitely be taking alot of u/w pics.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Don't laugh but I do have one concern. I've never dove with any spearfishers before, are they're ever any accidents like shooting someone your diving with because you couldn't see them or something? Because I do not think there are any close hospitals...

Hey Nikkey - if we manage to bring this off my daughter Claire will be along
You two are close in age.

I'd worry more about Eric Fattah's mysterious adaptations to the marine lifestyle than any spearos.

Spearguns do not shoot very far and it is a very experienced group. I would not worry about that.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

I am bringing my UW housing and video camera up, and when it's not in my hands, Phibs will most likely have it in use.

Also I'm currently looking at an all new setup that will make the trip, which then puts at least two UW video cameras in the hands of divers .

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

I just have a couple of little Casio exz50 and exz57 with housings good to 40meters. they do a nice job on stills though. Movie cameras would be a blast

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

That's great! Looks like we'll have lots of writers and video/still photographers. We can always just have a camp fire, some tequila and "team write" the article... I always like to do that sort of thing in committee!

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

I have a camera with 640x480 30fps video mode, or 1024x768 15fps. I need to get the underwater housing plus some more memory. I think our limitation on this front is going to be memory. So, I am reminding everybody to bring whatever form of flash memory you own, whether it works in your camera or another device of yours, since it will most likely work with somebody else's camera.

I currently have 256MB and 32MB standard speed SD.

I've got a gig in mine - I'll probably bring my laptop so I can upload if it gets filled up.

this is a non-issue. Spearfishing is extremely safe. there will be at least one Medic on the trip (Lv.3 FA) (that being said, I lost my Trauma kit when my car was stolen, so if anyone has and O2 Kit or AED they want to bring along it would be much appreciated, I'm down to basics....)

Laminar, I love tequila. room temp, strait up. count me in.

I've got one 512mb sony card. should have a 1.0G by the trip.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Tequila is too hard core for me. I only drink saki. Followed by taking turns punching one another in the face in the Zen manner. Slivovitz may be better for writing.
I'll score some extra sd cards.

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Tequila turned evil on me about 25 years ago - once that happens I don't think theres any going back. It was a bad summer. Perhaps I'll write a novel about it sometime - along the lines of Harry Crews 'Blood and Grits'.

"strange beetles struggled in my hair as a brutal late morning sun awakened the stench of kelp. Struggling to focus I saw a roosters leg sticking out of the wet sand in front of me. Obviously the tide had come in..."

Re: British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

I'm currently lookin' into the possibility of being there... and if it's possible (work and family depending) you can count me in! I'll keep you posted Erik.

I'll let the Freedive Toronto crowd know too. We've got several landlocked spearos here that are gettin' pretty itchy trigger fingers!!

Cheers,
Aaron
