G'day
I will be going to Victoria, BC, around the 15th May and would like to do some spearfishing/freediving. Can some one please let me know what fish are around there in May? What is the water temp? Is there someone on the list that could take me diving or give me contact details of a club around that area? Thanks Koops Australia |

TylerZ might be able to point you in a good direction, also Eric Fattah?
There is also a yahoo freedive group called VIFreedivers. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VIfreedivers/

Victoria isn't a very good place on the island for spearing. Most varieties of fish you might be interested in taking are not legal to take on that part of the island. Beyond that Victoria is a pretty big harbour / city that has plenty of dirty water. Consider going up-island if you want to do any actual spearing. Tyler is definatly your man, but again he lives in tahsis, the victoria divers don't generally spear.

Tyler and I have speared fish in Victoria we drove along the coast tell we found a point we liked then gave it a try. Check the regulations but overall you can have a great time diving in Victoria I sure did.
