as with last year I will be picking up JimDoe from the vancouver airport and driving in Via Nanaimo ferry. I will have 2 empty seats, which I have offered to Fonduset & Claire. We'll have to see if timing works for them, if not, I'll have a couple extra seats.
which week works best for the masses? june 17 - 23 ? or 24 - 30 ? those wishing to camp are more then welcome to use my kitchen, 2 burner propane stove and pots/pans, etc (it has been improved on since last year). we had good luck I think last time with dinners by way of group effort. coffee's always on at Casa Del Doe. and yes, I'll have some choice cuts of the local herbavoirs to grill up one night. will have foodsaver vacume sealer, so bring your own bags and you can seal them up for the trip home. There is a commercial freazer in Telegraph cove we used last time with good results.

This just keeps gettin better! Let us know as soon as dates firm up. If possible I'll reserve a cabin that can be shared. Personally I thought the campsite was more fun but I also liked being lodged 30 seconds from the water
I'm pretty excited about some of the other areas that have been mentioned. I hope we can all be there across the same time-span - I really enjoyed the campfire we had with everyone - great food, great conversation and just the right amount of primal surrealism. I would definitely have to be bringing some lingcod home - if at all possible. The sooner we have dates the sooner I can know if it's even possible - and if so get things in place timing-wise. There is a possibility I'll send Claire along with my good friend Gera - who has posted here a little - if I can't make it. If that happens I'll be out in the bay crashing my head into the bottom over and over the whole time. You'll like 'gera' - she has no psychological limitations that I've been able to detect. - Here is a recent picture of Claire - reminding us all of the importance of Dental Hygiene... And another which is less easily explained.

Speaking of the whale-lady - is it legal to spear chipmunks?
Also - if I recall correctly - just a few days earlier might give better rates on cabins. FYI - the cabins are right on the boardwalk and are by no means secluded.

ahhhh this all sounds very good.
A quote from the website: We've had halibut to 264 lbs, ling cod to 72 lbs and Yellow-eye to 32 lbs weighed in at our resort over the years. Tyler's ling last year was 19lbs. And we didn't see any halibut. However, they must be around. We'll have to start getting in touch with some locals. The campground was lots of fun. Amphibious's propane tree would allow for some serious cooking. The cabins look nice too. Chris, there wasn't much said about this on the website, but do you recall if the cabins had cooking facilities in them?? I know a few of them mention wood-burning stoves, which would be nice and warmmmmm. (btw - nice shot of the monster walleye!)

I can only make the trip after June so if we did it early July it would be greatly appreciated. We could also organize a side surfing trip to Tofino after if anyone is interested.

The downside to that is peak tourist season. Rates and traffic go up. Last time I think we sort of slipped in right under all that.
Rog that, Amphib. I've yet to read the full Stanley - thanks for reminding me.

Blast! I had hoped to be able to come this year but I'm working until the 21st and then immediately leaving for Ontario to go fishing and, on the way back, reconnoiter the pheasant possibilities in S. Dakota. Won't be home until around July 6th so I'm completely out of it . . . again!

Just wanted to add - I think TC is FREAKIN AWESOME - but I'd certainly be up for other cool places as well. In any case I think they'll be a few road trips on this one.
You should see this place in the summer - the population goes up by a factor of at least 10. The beaches are veritable mine-fields of breasts. Drunken riff-raff hurl, willy-nilly across the bay in overpowered fume-spewing monstrositys - oblivious to whatever may be getting osterized in their wake. Getting into the water is like passing through a labyrinth of sirens only to face the Kraaken. People who claim to be my age swelter for hours on end and die in the heat - all for the love of a flight of F-18s, a parade of old cars and a corn-dog. Others, clipped out at last from the complsory sensory overload they call 'vacation', simply plow their crown victorias through throngs of yuppy spawn; leaving broken lawn furniture and blood mixed with cappucino buzzing with flies in the afternoon sun.. .
