Anyone driving up from Vancouver, and if so, when? It's kind of early to know, but I really want to try and make the trip this year.

I will more than likely be coming through Van, as will Lee and probably Colin too.

I'm assuming my flight will end in Vancouver and would love to drive with some of you. How long does it take to drive from Vancouver to Telegraph Cove?

It's a 2 hour ferry over to the island then about a 5 hour drive north! Lot's of time to get to know each other

Yes it must be during the day... the scenery is spectacular, plus the stops for lunch and coffee are important.

I was thinking more about the vampire-eagles. And the giant slugs.. They also have strange candian forest dogs that weigh about 300lbs and walk slowly across roads.

I'd think we'd come into Vancouver on the 9th, head to TC and arrive on the 10th, and leave TC on the 16th.

If I fly into Vancouver on Saturday, the 9th, and ride up with either you guys or JimDoe on Sunday, we start diving on the 11th, dive 5 days and leave on the 16th, fly home from Vancouver on the 17th, don't arrive till early on the 18th. That's as much travel as diving. Anybody planning to go earlier or stay later? or fly into the airport close to Telegraph Cove?

Checking flights, its a whole bunch cheaper to fly into Seattle, also one less connection to lose luggage. Might even be quicker. Anybody coming from or coming through Seattle? Is clearing Customs any problem by road from Seattle?

I live in BC but work in Seattle regularly. Likely a quicker way to Vancouver Island from Seattle is to take the ferry from Port Angeles (US) directly to Victoria. Would save you battling north on I-5 only to wait at the border crossing, then lining up again for the ferry.
Haven't taken the PA ferry so you'd need to research the schedule and anticipated wait times. |
