I'll be in Tofino for a wedding 20 - 23 of may, then was thinking of staying or kicking over to TC for a few days of diving, would be great to have you along! bringing the spearo gear, sans scuba

Gabe here, with more info on another trip planned by some local divers. I'm seriously interested in this one. I'm going to contact Dale (owner of the dive shop here in Kamloops) and suggest a longer stay. I think two weeks in each Vietnam & Thailand would be an amazing experience. Especially Vietnam - having only been open to tourists since what, '95 I think?? Travel would be more difficult, but the experience (and the diving) would be phenomenal.

"In March of 2009 I (dale) will be going to Vietnam and Thailand , we will leave on March 14th. and not come back till April 4th.

The plan is to go to Vietnam for the first week, tour and some diving, after that go to Thailand sit on the beach a couple of days then jump on a live aboard dive for 4 days then go back to Phuket and tour, beach, snorkel and dive"

In my minds eye I see the sun rising in Vietnam, and setting in Thailand - both encredible experiences. But again, it's the Vietnam portion that really gets me. Another variation could be to do the planned itinerary, but leave a week or so at the end, for whatever we feel like doing. If anyone is interested speak up soon.

Hey Gabe, nice to see you on here again and thanks for the pics/vids. I look forward to diving/eating with everyone again in August. I have some trips to report when I get time back home. I have been spoiled with diving lately. Recently got back from Kauai/Oahu a couple weeks ago and have turned around on short notice to California right now and to Baja next week for some big game spearing.

Ok everyone, for flight scheduling purposes I need to know the exact dates everyone will be arriving at Telegragh Cove (especially you Willer!). I have an airline credit with Pacific Coastal due to my last minute cancellation last year and the airline needs to know right now (or else they will void my credit) what dates I will be reserving.

I don't want to show up and be alone sleeping in a suit case under a tree at the camp site!

Hey everyone, the trip this year sounds like it is going to be amazing. However, unfortunately I am going to have to miss it. I just re-broke my talus and fibula falling out of a tree! (my ankles were already damaged from an old ice-climbing accident) So, anyway, my ankle wont be strong enough by then to be able to dive. I look forward to next year, and I promise to stay out of any trees.

Sorry to hear that, Viking. Things aren't looking too good for me either. Unfortunately, the job situation is very tenuous, and my present monthly salary would barely cover air fare Sorry, guys. I tried.

Hey all. I'm in for the duration. I'll probably catch the last ferry - night of the 9th, crash on the island, and arrive in TC campground mid AM on the 10th. Then ditch the watch (Colin's influence), set up, and be in adventure mode by noon

Hopefully Colin has enjoyed his recent time in the area the past few days. I spent 5 refreshing days in Bamfield over MayLong. Did three days boat diving in the Broken Group and one walkabout day - finding interesting shore dives. Managed to observe a curious wolf eel, watch humpbacks in the area, film a close-up sea blubber jelly, film a tiny wolf eel in the shallows, and spend a day diving finless (among many other interesting moments). Will post a link for media in this next week.

So count me in.

Gabe that's great news. I just texted Willer to see how his time up on the west side was... I'll be out in June and might head there for some spearing. Would you say there was anywhere for good spearfishing where you were? I did some scubdiving out there years ago and it seemed fecund, but it was all from a liveaboard. I'd love to get in the water there and get some fish :P
ps- how is your boy doing?

just back from the coast. sadly I didn;t get any time to dive. had to skip the tofino side of the wedding (service was in shawnigan) as I had some unexpected training & introduction opportunities came up on the mainland. with my career as it is, I can't aford to miss them.

Plan is for me to get there late on the 8th and have camp set up following morning as I pick jimbo up afternoon of the 9th. will go for a strol this afternoon, see what I can do about some bear steaks

Brutal Lars. That is really too bad. What were you doing in the tree?
