It always begins like that. And then the dreams begin...then the blank spots in your memory; the strange tatoos; Soon you wake up by the side of the road naked, with owl feathers in your teeth..

Probably 8 to 10C that time of year Connor. I'm thinking warm lodge to sleep in.

Very warm lodge. If I'm translating right, that's about 45-50 degrees F. I was thinking maybe I could beef up a 3 mil Elios with some kind of underlayer, but that temp is pretty foreign territory to this southern boy. Anybody out there have any experience trying to make a 3 mil work in that kind of water?

Conner, if you are coming this next trip I will make sure you have the right wetsuit to borrow. I have a ton of them. Also this weekend there is a chance Colin and I will be at Blue Spring since they are about to close it!!!

I've done it in 3mm suit with vests and dry gloves, but really the answer is a good 7mm or 5mm with a vest, otherwise you're hypothermic by day 2 or 3.

I'd say 5 mil minimum for sure -that's what I had and I got really cold - but still made most of the dives. I have a 6 smooth out top and 6 bottoms now.I think it'll do. Claire did a four hour dive the last day in her 3 mil!!

Sounds like I'd get hypothermic about minute 2 or 3. Claire is WAY tougher than me.
If JimDoe will spring for a suit(many many, thanks) and I can make my schedule to work, I'll be on this trip. Time for me to go to work on schedule. Can't make the Blue trip, but have fun. Its a wacky and fun place to dive, especially the first time. Looks much more wierd than it actually is. Of course, pulling yourself into a small hole under a submerged tree and wiggling down to 80 or 90 feet though twisty passages just barely big enough to drop though (in the dark) isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it really is quite safe. Colin will love it. Connor |

Last year it was the last week in June. Previously was the second to last week in June. We just need to make a decision and go with it. I think the last week in June again is a good idea. Although, later in the summer may be nice for air temperature.

Hey,
I just got an email from Lindsey with a link to the pictures he took. Some of them really give you an idea of how beautiful it is up there. Look at the snow covered peak backdrop and the trees full of the bald eagles will make any American proud. Shutterfly | View Shared Pictures lee Last edited by feign; October 28th, 2007 at 03:56. |
