Hawaii boy up north

Aloha friendly Canadians

Im currently in vancouver right now getting ready to go out and watch your firework show. Awesome city! Hiked to the top of the "chief" in Squamish today and my legs are killing me

Anywho, Headed to Vancouver island for a week and a half sail between Victoria and a bit north of Nanaimo. My question is not at all related to freediving (as it is way too cold here!) But Im looking to do some flyfishing on the island. Just wondering if anyone has any advice for that general area. Ive heard the steelehead fishing is fun but it is a $64 permit so .... Is it worth it? Ive also heard the pink salmon are running. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

Mahalo

Re: Hawaii boy up north

not sure if you'll all done with your trip, but the flyfishing on the island is excellent, the north Island in particular.

Re: Hawaii boy up north

no salmon. Lingcod, Greenling, and Rockfish are our target species.
