Hi All,
Has anyone been to Little Cayman? Its reputed to have fabulous tank diving, but how is the freediving, espcially from shore. How far is the wall from shore on the north side? Connor |

Connor i lived in Cayman for 15 months but only Grand Cayman and visited the Brac. Speak to Mark Tomkins (http://forums.deeperblue.net/member.php?u=376) he lives in Cayman permanently and could probably give you good advice (he is also a freediver |

I grew up in the "Islands" (36 yrs so far) though only started going to Little Cayman about fifteen years ago. Absolutely amazing diving - Bloody Bay Wall has been rated in top five for at least ten years I believe - in places wall starts at 15-20' and then "gone!" - if you're afraid of heights you won't like it! From shore it's a hell of a swim for Bloody Bay. All around the island is superb shore snorkelling with pristine coral and fish populations, although shallow and can have current depending on weather (wind effects more than tide here) but there are some deep shore dives available on the northwest coast. As far as I know, all dive operations there welcome freedivers on the boats (with buddys - no singles) and are fairly knowledgeble and willing to accomodate. Check www.destination.ky . PM me if you need more info (i'm really "tuned" right now and have to get up early so am going to bed)

Oh yeah, if you're going to be in Grand Cayman at all and want the "hookups" (I'm talking 'bout freediving, scuba, fishin, accomodations etc.) let me know(PM me) in advance (weekends preferred as I have that disease called "work" during the week) and I will see what I can do - that goes for everyone out there.......

Mark
I will be traveling to Grand Caymen in January 1st-8th. I did the Performance Freedive course in Miami, but was unable to finish the open water session due to weather. Do they have a freedive course in Cayman? I will be staying at Spanish Bay Reef and will get to do some freediving from shore, but I was interested in group session if they have a class. |

So far i've done the Performance Freedive course in Miami once and twice here in Cayman (the last one was last March - the one which Tiger Woods attended!) Divetech used to offer courses but since hurricane Ivan I am not sure if they still have it. I will check and get back to you....
