| Re: Cornwall 2007! Bad start to the year. Bad head cold which screwed up my sinuses. I still dived just after the cold had passed and forced to equalize my sinus which lead to mass bruising of them. Take my word. If your sinus is badly blocked don't force it. Then i had the snip so my nuts have been tender as hell!! Tried to dive again and pushed my luck again! You would have thought i would learn but oh no! Thats too easy! Anyway, back to it now, Viz is getting better. Dived the south coast on friday and this morning. Managed 1 bass on each day. Friday was about 3m tops and this morning was about 4-5m. The fish were nothing to shout about but big enough to keep everyone happy. Saw some bigger ones but not in a position to risk a shot. Hey badlander, do you know jamie in Portugal???

| Re: Cornwall 2007! The lizard is reported to be ok by Porthkerris dive center. Just stay away from the main areas right infront of the rivers. The rain has really messed up the viz around the river mouths i saw!

| Re: Cornwall 2007! There's no real history of shooting sharks in the UK, unlike other countries. There used to be a British spearfishing record for blue shark of only 30 lbs or so caught 30+ years ago. maybe it's been uprated by someone. Alderney is known for its tope and some years ago some Jersey boys shot some big ones up there. Personally never seen a shark when spearing but seen a few when tanking or just generally out in the boat. Think it would be easy to spear one especially a blue if you chummed it to the boat. Porbeagles make good eating as do tope but not sure about blues. Sure they're edible but not sure how good. Porgies inhabit the same waters we night dive especially in winter. The netters get them every year up to 300lb. Sooner or later we'll see one. Not sure what will happen next. Dave |

| Re: Cornwall 2007! Dived the Falmouth area today.Lots of swimming done as i tried to access a favourite spot from a different beach.Lesson learnt.....legs are still aching. Fishwise,i saw two mullet straight off the bat but let them go....then didn't see a thing for ages (and miles) came across a bass that could have been mistaken for a fish finger sizewise.Saw a Huge mullet in the stringweed but my brain could't make my trigger finger work...off it swam. Found a shoal or schoolies that i hung out with till they tired of me then i headed out to a point and deeper water with the pollock.Still no bass though.Started getting cold so headed back and saw a good sized bass in the 5-6lb region and once again totally failed to pull the trigger. Got out.Cold.Tired and to top it all off the exhaust fell off my car. Hey....vis was good though!

Guys I am very new and therefore excited about Spearfishing (presumably lots of despair and dissapointment to come) I would love some advice on a few good spots in Cornwall, where I'll be next week - ALso I spend alot of time in North Devon, around Clovelly/Hartland - anybody have any recommendations in the area? Many thanks Abe |
