Got a problem though - the wishbone has just broken! Typically in timely fashion just days before my 6 week teachers summer holiday - doh!

It is the original seatec wishbone and the metal moving parts are okay, it is the plastic screw-on threaded caps that screw onto the end of the rubbers that have cracked and come apart. I have got 20mm rubbers on the gun and can't find a spare wishbone that will fit it. All my spares are too small for the thread on the end of the rubber.

I have tried to ring Dave at spearo and also email him about a spare but can't seem to get hold of him (Are you out there???). I was wondering if any of you other gabbiano users would know of a place to get spares and parts for the gun, or in the very least somewhere that does wishbones for 20mm rubbers?

Cheers, Nick.
Try the guys at Potland Oceaneering, i'm pretty sure they sell 20mm Cressi rubbers so should have a wishbone that fits (cressi threaded wish bone will fit your rubbers)

Pipe fish are very different to garfish. They are more like stretched sea horses. I've only ever seen one but I have heard they can be quite common in some places.

Re: Cornwall 2007!

Dived the beach next from where i live the past two days with mixed success.Managed to shoot two bass with one shot yesterday then got to play with two seals that appeared, gutshots tale was fresh in my mind so i was gaurding my catch!Today i dived the same spot with a couple of mates and after gearing up and making it to the water i discovered that the mouth piece from my snorkel was missing.....as the walk back in the sun didn't seem appealing i decided to give it shot without it.Complete waste of time...Anyway,mate shot a trigger fish, saw a few small bass and that was that.

Re: Cornwall 2007!

Dived off Gul rock yesterday, swell was a bit more than expected with a little windswell out of the North.Vis was alright though and popped off a bass early on,my friends weren't enjoying it so much though so we got out early.Gonna try a different north coast stretch this afternoon, conditions look great.

Re: Cornwall 2007!

Had a little look around on the north coast this afternoon.Plenty of schoolies but all either on or under the limit but it was nice seeing so many bass. The best part of it though was when i was heading in i got startled by a seal that had appeared from nowhere and seemed a little lively.I tried swimming at him to make him back off a bit but he just loved it.Got into swimming in circles with it and playing around and then it'd dart into the kelp and seem to hide and then fly out again try and grab my fins.Anyway,we played around for probably 45 minutes until right into the shallows. It was without doubt the hightlight of my spearing experiences and walking back up the beach i couldn't give a damn about getting no fish.

Re: Cornwall 2007!

Dived North Coast last night for the first time in a month.
Flat calm, 20ft ish viz, and plenty of bass about, the tide was running a bit though! Ended up with 5, nothing massive, all between 3 and 5lb, but a very enjoyable way to spend an evening. The only bummer was slicing my thumb open to the bone when the knife slipped whilst filleting them!
cheers
dave

I think Daves mobile number is on his site - just give him a call he will probably be able to sort out all your kit and give you some ideas for spots aswell. You can PM him here as he is a DB member - his id is just 'dave'. Look back four posts on this thread and you will see him!! He is based in Bodmin.

Re: Cornwall 2007!

From my experience Dave normaly has all the gear at his house and i'm sure if you rang him he'd be abale to sort you out with everything you're likely to need in terms of mask, snorkel, fins guns etc etc. He's also likely to give you sound advice regarding popular locations and current vis.
Good luck anyway!

Re: Cornwall 2007!

Fishermen regularly get cod off the beach in the winter at Porthleven, but it is rare to get it calm enough to dive at that time of year.

My ears have started playing up in the last week (years of surfing and diving taking its toll); I have been looking back through the posts in this thread and a scalp lotion is mentioned as a treatment.
My mate used this and swears by it, but the tuppy cant remember the brand name. I have done a google search and come up with 'Betamethasone' - has anyone used this particular product?
