dived bigbury bay tuesday afternoon pushing tide, two reefs 5-15mts, 750mts off shore from a boat. lovely conditions, viz was 6-7 mts (bigbury bay likes north thru east winds and minimal swell). afew pollock and Rass and a large conga but no bass/mullet, never released my pole but with the viz/light a really nice treat in january. large frequency swell to hit over next 3 days which should stir up the bottom. good waves poor viz so will surf.

Right in my last post I said that I’d report some more on the Napoli.
Well a slight change in plans as there was a lovely clean swell pushing into North Devon and it would have been rude not to take advantage, so the kayak stayed at home and out came the surfboards. Before I went in I had a mooch around Baggy point to check out spearing potential as I have caught some big Triggerfish here about ten years ago. Any how back to the surfing, spent an hour and a half riding like a man possessed, until I rode one back into the shallows, stepping off the board manage to twist my knee the wrong way. Upshot of this is I have spent four hours in A&E and am now stuck on the sofa or on crutches if I really have to get about, will not know the full extent of the damage until Tuesday when I’m back a the Orthopaedic department, but its not looking too good. Spearheads keep the videos coming there fantastic, the Babbacombe area is my home turf so to speak, and that’s about as close as I’m going to be getting for a while. surfs up hard to believe it’s February Allan Last edited by Allan B; February 3rd, 2007 at 17:13. |

Cracking video....proper Luc Besson Jnr.
Re the winter training, try the Power Lung, really strengthens the breathing muscles. Running is still my main training method 3 times a week , with countles lengths underwater once/twice a week. Trouble with swimming is, you really will pick up colds...nightmare. Weights once a week, mainly legs. Octopush also good, mate of mine does this in Tenby. Trained with a French spearo who smoked and regulalry clocked 4 mins + on 5mt depth....but ran 6 days a week. Best tip I had was to totally relax, tuba out and remain totally supple from the start of the dive, no heavy leg kicks. You'll get to 3-30 in no time. Rob |

Spearheads it’s not me leaving comments didn’t know you could till you said.
As for training I’m much the same as Rob, but also do apnea walking, although since Friday all I’ve done is lie on the sofa, my blood feels like it’s turned to sludge. May try apnea hobbling on crutches later Allan |

Well i have been running 4 times a week also doing co2 tables 3 times a week. I try to get in most weekends weather permitting.
my Pb(dry) is 3.45 trying to get to 4 ,most of my dive times are 2.00/2.15 but in the winter 30 seconds less due to the cold. Who is going after the plaice in spring lots at hopes nose April to early may. Mr x snorkel always out. Human interest

Put me down for some Plaice bashing; also have a few other little hot spots to try, still working out how to fish them, as tide run could be a problem.
