Plymouth Breakwater

What's the deal with the breakwater anyone? Are you allowed to land on it?I was wondering if you could kayak to it from Wembury or Bovisand, land and just shore dive it? The big ships with guns seem to suggest 'f off' but I was wondering if anyone had any first hand knowledge?

I guess you'd need to 'ferry glide' the tide if it was running in or out of the harbour, and not get flattened by Brittany Ferries.

Re: Plymouth Breakwater

I've dived there a couple of times with a boatman idling nearby. Somebody shot a small bluewater fish there a couple of years ago. I know sharks have buzzed a couple of spearos there too!!!

Re: Plymouth Breakwater

you are not allowed to actually land on the Breakwater, but is only a 10 minute kayak from Bovisand, or about half an hour from Cawsand. The western end is generally better

Re: Plymouth Breakwater

As it is still within the juristiction of the Queen Harbour Master you must ask permission from the MOD at longroom before diving the breakwater.

Re: Plymouth Breakwater

all diving in the sound but esp on the breakwater. Neil is particularly concerned that divers are being buzzed by jet skis and likes to know where we are. so a courtesy call to longroom by vhf or landline goes down well.
