Call me soft if you like, but I think I need a thicker suit or to eat more pies before I try diving in January!

Re: South Devon Report 2008

I braved the cold water again today and to be honest it wasnt even that cold. No brain freeze even my hands were ok and my gloves are full of holes. The only part of me that got cold was my feet otherwise all good.

went scalloping in Brixham and got 3 measureing 11cm 12cm and 13cm
The one on the left of the picture was funny looking and took a weight from my dumbell to open it, and even then it didnt look right so I left it as Im new to this whole scalloping thing and didnt want to poision myself on the second attempt

the viz was poor but it always is off Brixham breakwater beach with a white clouding hanging on the surface but cleared to about 2 meters the deeper I went. Im going to dive a possible NEW spot tomorrow

If anyone is planning a trip to Brixham in the near future the council has decided to dig the roads up again so the main road in the town is shut off.
and theres detours everywhere

Dive safe

i am confused is it like a spearfishing competition where we all meet and spearfish at the same time or do we just post pictures of what we have caught every month, if it is posting pictures are there any boudaries, you say south west would that mean that sussex is out?

Re: South Devon Report 2008

Jwells1989 don't worry the comp will be very simple. When you do your normal spearfishing if you catch a good fish just take a picture and enter it in the comp. All will be revealed soon enough. And Sussex will be included.

Scallops would not be included in the comp.Sorry Guys.If your looking for scallops then flatties won't be too far behind.

its pays to have some extra insulation around the belly Spiderman

Glowworm thats some nice info I never knew. Do the flatties feed on the scallops? and does it matter what state of tide or do they come in with the tide.

Re: South Devon Report 2008

Scottwilson flatties and scallops generally share the same ground sandy or muddy bottoms.Don't think flatties eat scallops their too busy looking for mussells, prawns and small crabs.
