Decent spots around Plymouth?

Hello all,

I'm new to this site so will be interested to see what my question throws up.

I'm down in the Plymouth area next week and I'm wondering if anybody knows some decent spearfishing spots around there. I'll be based in Cawsands, just over the border in Cornwall, so looking at the map I will probably go out exploring that part of the bay, up to Penlee Point, around to Rame head, and maybe even around to Whitsands. I'm also interested in the other side of Plymouth Sound, around Jenny Cliff, to Heybrook bay.

I'll be entering from the shore (no boat, but I do have a kayak) and don't really want to go much deeper than 10 meters.

If anyone can suggest some decent spots that I can jump straight into, I'd really appreciate it - otherwise I guess I'm gonna spend most of my holiday swimming around!

Many thanks,

Gaz D

There are no such decent spots as such Gaz, i have shot fish at all the places that you have named. Its more a matter of just getting in the water and giving it a go.

Just try and keep an eye on the wind direction, that will be your biggest enemy when it comes to visibility.
