Monosocca Homemade Line Release

I obtained a C4 Monosocca for a very good price a while back, but it being an early version it didn't come with a mechanical line release, just a friction tab.

I didn't like that idea so decided to make one of me own based on that used on the Gabbiano. Drilling into that expensive carbon was not a decision I took lightly but I found a spot that was pretty thick and I only needed a 4mm deep hole so it didn't go all the way through the wall.

Works a treat.

Take a look at your vid in slow motion - frame by frame... notice how the tail of the spear is kicked up by the mechanism. My guess is that this will see see your spear shooting low. I'm willing to be proved wrong though - I hope it works for you.

Yeh I know mate, seen that, time will tell but in its defence the spear was only being pulled out by hand so in use I'm hoping the spear will be gone before it has the chance to flip it. Also the line was under quite a lot of tension from a bungie which was too tight as I only rigged it quickly, which flipped the bracket up, so I'm hoping in use it won't make too much difference.

The Gabbiano uses the same system and everything I read says thats one of the most accurate guns out there...

Its times like that that I wish I had a pillar drill Pastor, Mart said I should just tuck the line under a rubber band but where would be the fun in that!

The bands will hold that arse end down unless there is hellish tension on the line. no way that is shot with bands in the vid, you just wouldn't see it so clear, just 1 frame max in all probability

magpie, very good. I think it will shoot ok, the spear will be long gone before the mech lifts. (imho!) Nice job.
