Re: Dorset Spearfishing 2007

Four hardy souls (Podge, Almost & StuckinSurrey)had a dive off Portland today; well 3 did and one (me) sat in the car until I convinced myself there was a bass waiting for me out there.

It was a tropical 11c viz < 1m - not a lot was seen and even less caught - ho hum

Happy New Year Everyone!

Just got back from visiting my folks in Dubai, where they had very kindly organised a surprise boat trip for me...took my best fish ever, a Cobia of around 9lbs (photies attached). Also had a couple of small barracudas and a trevally. What a barbeque on Xmas eve! Also got a little bit of surfing in in front of that swish hotel which was a laugh.

Now back in the cold, and having serious withdrawal symptoms...when do the bass come back????!!!

Worrying times with that stricken cargo vessel in Lyme Bay; BBC NEWS | England | Devon | Fight to stem cargo ship oil leak
but when you see how much flotsam & jetsam that is already on Chesil Beach, it will be difficult to pick out the containers if they get beached!!!!!

Totally, why can't they transfer the containers to smaller boats and have them away? That would be one problem out of the way. Salvage issues I suppose...

Didn't fancy a quick dip in the cove then? Could have been a bass in there somewhere...

Don't get me started on that one!

It'll be a pround day for us Brits when the worlds dignitaries decend on Portland for the 2012 Olympic Sailing events.

On different but similar subject of our lack of respect for our surroundings.
I recently complained about 16 vandalised waist high footpath lights near the Sailing Academy which have been smashed since August 2006 (sound like Victor Meldrew don't I!). I mentioned this to the body responsible for the upkeep of the lights and was told....

quote "it's no point fixing them, the kids will only smash them up again".

It's like the Police Officer saying "I won't arrest that murderer because he'll only do it again when he get's let out"

What the F**ks the world coming to? Makes ya proud to be British doesn't it!

I've finished now. Thanks for listening

P.S Sorry this post has nothing to do with spearfishing. Unless you used to use the damaged lights when kitting up for a night shoot.

Re: Dorset Spearfishing 2007

But do you feel better now for getting it off your chest Ade??

You haven't mentioned the wonderful new apartments being developed. We had a look round on Sunday and decided £700,000 for a 3 bed overlooking the harbour was just out of our reach. I suspose it will be better than what's there at the moment and may start to regenerate the area - but it all sounds like another "new" Poundbury - now don't get me started on that one!!

When is this sea going clear so we can go and vent our anger and kill something??
