Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Well if it makes you feel any better I went fishing in the Thames on Monday night and whilst cycling home with my rods in a sling I went back a different way and under some low trees, the rod tops got stuck in the trees and it proceeded to flick me in the hedge. Have a severe gravel rash to my knee cap and a 7" bruise from the pedal on the inside of the other. Havent checked the rods yet as it was dark, could be a case of 11' 6" rods now instead of 12", all pain and effort was rewarded with one bream - argh!

Nice one Jim, that bought a smile to my face.
Now stop being a bloody student, take that bicycle out, burn it and get into your car.
After all we’ll never see enough global warming to bring the tuna in unless we all do our bit to help it along.

Steady there gents, Mrs Jim happens to be a bit of a kung fu queen and she’ll have yer head clean off with one kick…. Just ask the poor London taxi driver that tried to rip her off one time, I think he’s still being fed with a straw and this was a year and more ago.
She’s one FIT girl if you know what I mean…

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

A great dive yesterday off Portland with 1 shot.Vis was great and there were hundreds of mullet about.Only saw 3 bass and the biggest saw me first

I did find a nice lobster which i managed to tease out of its hiding place but on turning it over to stop it from grabbing me i noticed it was full of eggs.I put her back where i found her.

Didn't bring any fish back but a great dive anyway.

Nice one John on the old conservation bit.
I spent the day making 2 Gallons of Blackberry and 2 Gallons of Apple wine, as I can’t harvest fish I’m gone make stuff that’ll get me pissed instead.
Anybody else been in over the weekend and got any fishy tales to tell??

Lobster caviar - mmmm! (Only kidding) very commendable and shows what an eco-friendly lot we are!

Conditions over here not so good at present -but you'll have to read the Guernsey thread for more.

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Had an excellent dive with Glowworm yesterday, perfect conditions and probably more fish than I've ever seen. We could have shot as many 4lb mullet as we could carry, but neither of us fancied any. Fingers crossed for a few more decent weekends this year!

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Well you boys leave all the mullet you can as those fillets are fine by me! I went in at Chesil for a real quick one as the family were enjoying the unbelievable sunshine on the beach. Had two mullet, saw no bass at all....

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Brett, after you had your nose job how long before you got back in the water?
The doctors are telling me leave it for at least 6 weeks, are they taking the piss or what?
It’ll be 2 weeks this Friday and I must say that its starting to feel a lot better already so I reckon maybe another week or so and I’ll be fine.

And what can you expect from the fat pikey but for him to leave perfectly good fish, I expect the problem was that his horse couldn’t take any more on the trip back to camp.
