Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

The old skewer shot, already for the roasting spit .

What would you have judged the vis to be? I find my vids always make it look worse than I percieve it to be, unless it's very shallow, when it looks about right.

Nice one Ben - not sure I could handle the gun and camera and equalise at the same time - good effort. The coverage made it look quite deep - how deep were you?

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

I would say that the viz was in the region of 3-4 metres. It was better nearer the surface, often reaching 6m or so in a couple of areas. Wierd how it varies...Depth wise I was only at around 6-7 metres.

We have a clever bloke in our workshops who fettled a couple of pieces of stainless into a custom gun mount - hence I was able to dive and equalise (only just mind, i'm not the most acomplished of spearos!)

Hopefully we'll get some more footage as the season progresses. Looking for a dive buddy this saturday...John is disappearing for a bit, flyflicking or something...

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Nice video, and glad someone is getting some fish! As a side note what camera/housing do you use?
I have a nice trip planned for this weekend, but may try and squeeze a dive in Friday morning too.

Hoping to get more spearocam footage...

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Nice vid Fear! Gotta love the kebab shot!

Just back from California - sadly no spearing for me, but looks likes summer has arrived since I've been away!

New gun has arrived from subprof that needs christening.

Sooooooo...who's got a viz report with all these easterlies? Anyone been in anywhere in the last couple of days? Could be a busy weekend at Chesil Cove if this wind keeps whistling...

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Tunny you can spear around the pier i believe Surfnspear and 1 shot 1 kill have before.

I was working at sandbanks in poole today and the water was rough and coloured there so you'll need divine intervention for any vis at bournemouth.

But you never know.
