Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

ah that's better a nice spear to clear the mind! Vis OK close in, but at about 5m it got very murky indeed. OK enough to get me a trigger and missed two bass, both were dreadful shots. Bait fish were very thin on the ground, but I was fishing the ebb so not surprising.

The weather is brewing for another storm, time to cook and drink!!

Ended up fishing on the jetty underneath Portland Castle yesterday with 1 shot 1 kill.Vis looked ok and we could have got in i suppose but it was just as much fun fishing.Caught a mixed bag of wrasse, blenny's,goby's and a very small bass to me

Does anyone know if that Vis-O-Meter is still accurate? I've just checked the forecast on windguru and it doesn't look too bad for Saturday...

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Well Helllloooooo Everyone... Just back form my trips and and I am hoping to get in the water this Weekend. Any news on the water vis and conditions please. I will be aiming for my normal areas of Portland & Weymouth. Unless I go to Seaton as my diving partner likes that location.

Re: Dorset Spearing 2008

Did a night dive last night with Podge and Flyflicker.Nice to be back in the water again.Lots of small flatties, gobys, pout and pollock.A couple of cuttlefish made an appearence plus the usual bait fish some big shrimp and those shore crabs look big and angry at night.Didn't see any congers though which was disapointing but all in all a good first night dive of 2008.
