Re: Dahab May/June 2008

Hi, I will be going out to Dahab to freedive as much as possible for May/June (never been before) and was hoping for some advice on where to stay. I'm really trying to make my money last and so while there are lots of hotels which are pretty cheap - it all soon adds up to something quite expensive for a month or more. Does anyone have any reccomendations? I will take most things, but if given the option would prefer something a bit quieter, generally laid back and that is secure for my stuff. Perhaps someone knows of an apartment / flat / room to rent?

All suggestions greatfully received!

Re: Dahab May/June 2008

hey stuart, i havent been to dahab for some time, so my advice could be a bit outdated, how long do you intend to stay in dahab?
if not too long, you might as well stay at the novotel, its a good hotel, but cerainly not the cheapest there,..probably a good place to look would be here:
dahab hotels, safari and diving - Hotels in Dahab
i recall i stayed at monica camp, one time, nothing fancy, but clean room , bathroom, hot water, AC, fridge..very very cheap and generally dahab is a safe place..i was only staying for a weekend though, wouldnt recommend it for a long stay...
why not check the bedoiun moon, looks much better I havent stayed there myself, but you get the benefit of being close to where a lot of freediving action takes place and you could join the gang over there,,,,once you get there search for lotta ericsson
:: Lotta Ericson ::
ask about the deals they have at their dive center and their prices for training etc..
she is a very helpful person
good luck

Re: Dahab May/June 2008

Hi Stuart,

I've been in Dahab altogether for almost six weeks last year, and we stayed in at least 10 different hotels . Absolutely no problem finding something just by going around.

This one is ok for example, most of the Triple Depth folks stayed there:
Octopusdivers

Or a very quiet place, where we stayed most of the time is this one:
Sheikh Salem House, The Beach Guest House in Dahab Home Page
They have budget as well as luxury (in terms of Dahab standards ) rooms.

Generally I would say don't book something for the whole length of stay. If you don't like your hotel just walk around and find another one, there's plenty of them...

And like Marwan said, its generally a very safe place, so no big worries here either.
