Eqex

I cannot seem to conclude what you all think of the EQEX. I think it is a smart invention but i am not as sure about where I think it should be allowed. Static - No
CWT - Hesitating but leaning towards NO (to many gadgets)
No Limit - Well, yes (from the name) but i still do not fancy it as much as going without.

Re: Eqex

My vote would be:

Pool diciplines: no, unless little pony bottles are allowed as well
Depth: maybe, don't really care
No-Limits: sure, why not. Fluid goggles, nose clips, pipe masks and all the "gadgeds" have pretty much always been allowed. This is no different...

Re: Eqex

Well, I think there is a difference between the Equex and the stuff you mentioned.
Latter, apart from the noseclip, try to overcome a problem that is caused by equipment, namely that you need a mask which normally would be filled with air etc. etc. . You would be actually better off not taking a mask at all, which isn't possible for obvious reasons. The noseclip is rather for streamlining not for equalization (if you can do the equalization with noseclip on you could do it using your hands as well).
The Equex takes it one step further - it is a piece of equipment solely designed to overcome the shortcomings of human physiology.

Re: Eqex

I will have to agree with Veronika. It is a tool to overcome the shortcomings of human physiology. Thats the case with fins and suits as well. I must say i admire the no fins disciplines the most. What is the case with suits? Maybe freediving in is pure form is supposed to be done as we were born...
....in the nude with no equipment what so ever

Re: Eqex

Well at least for me, I can't see the line without mask and probably make my eyeballs turn into ice-cubes when trying to.

Re: Eqex

The EQEX makes a simple maneuver safer. You can do a giant mouthfill without the EQEX. You have to blow air into your cupped hands, and trap the air under them (at the moment of final mouthfill).

Then, at a deeper depth, you suck the air trapped by your hands back into your mouth. This is obviously a risky maneuver, but possible. So the EQEX method of equalizing is actually possible even without the device.

Re: Eqex

Or run a small pipe to your hood (going down upright), blow the air in there and suck it out later

And instead of cupped hands, it might be easier to use your glove or something...If it's intact, it can be used as a balloon basically...

Re: Eqex

It should not be hard to get an air chamber or bladder built onto the outside of the wetsuit somewhere.
