air escaping in the corner of my eyes...

This might sound stupid but when I equalise, I often feel that air is escaping in the inner corner of my eyes.. Sometimes it even blows out some liquid (from my tear-duct I guess) spraying it all over my mask.. I think my eustachian tubes are so tight sometimes that the air finds its way through my eyes.. I think I could even blow out smoke there, if I was smoking (I heard of people who could do that)
Anyway, do you think this can have some harmful effect on the long run? It's not at all painful or anything, and I don't feel that my eyes want to pop out or something, only that the air is escaping.
Interesting alternative to equalize the mask though

Re: air escaping in the corner of my eyes...

I can force air into my tear-ducts when I am ill with flu. Not at other times though! Weird fact of the week...

Not useful as I wouldn't go diving with flu.

Re: air escaping in the corner of my eyes...

I wouldn't wanna make this the common channel for air to escape to (as in braoden it), so I would have tried practicing on equalizing while not letting air escape through the tear-duct. This can probably done by equalizing more gently against a lower resistance from the e-tubes, which can probably be done by equalizing more often as the more pressure you are missing (the more you descend since last euqalization) the more tight your e-tubes are. Another thing that can help reducing equalizing resistance is to learn handsfree euqalization.

As for what harm can be done by equalizing that way? Got no clue... maybe more risk for nasal/sinus infections because things from one space invade another, maybe less (tears have immunologic properties).

hello,

i've been to 30m depth with my noseclipp paradisia and my aqua sphera mask (no nose) by equalising through my eyes. Works perfectly well. I didn't go any deeper because i was alone. I think that as long I can equalise my ears, I should be able to equalise through my eyes. Didn't dive since, we'll see next season.

man, I was just kidding, I didn't even think that someone actually DOES equalize with the eyes well, certainly a creative alternative of liquid goggles

I am able to blow air through both tear ducts as well, primarily the left. However, I don't get enough air flow to make it an effecient alternative, and would have to slow my descent rate a lot.

So who out there can reverse pack through their eyes?

There is a Bunch a Japenese Guys call the Tokyo Shock Boys.

They do some really weird stuff one of their tricks is to squirt milk through their tear ducts, they can squirt it for about 3 feet.
