Hello, my name is Mickey enjoying freediving and spear fishing with harpoon.
Let me have a question. I hear some people can equalize without picking his/her nose. Can anyone here do such way? Please tell me how to do that. I always equalize with my hand picking my nose, so, during the equalizing I cannot use both hands and it is a resistance to swim fast. |

I can. There is a post somewhere that describes exactly how to do it.
It is kind of like the first part of a yawn. If I use the "hands-on" method it hurts my ears. Did you mean pinching your nose? |

Thanks for your reply.
When I equalize, I pinch my nose with my fingers and breathe out. By this way I can equalize easily and without any problem except for the water resistance in speed swimming and unavailability in hand. |

New equalisation technique - nose picking
. Sorry Mickey, i think it's a small spelling error ( i am not an English native myself) but it's just very funny imagining one going down the blue while...picking his/her nose yet getting good equalisation!Back to the actual technique - it's doable but not by everyone unfortunately - you need good control over and responsive airways. check out http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthr...t=equalisation also www.liquivision.ca where Eric Fattah has a great document on one Frenzel technique. serge |

I was able to do hands free equalization yesterday. The bottom was only about 6 meters down though. Also I tended to lose a bit of air throught the mask.
I just pressurized mask and ears on the surface and kept it up as I descended with light freznel pressure. At first I though I wasn't clearing because no pop but realized that 20' down with no sensation of pressure I must have been successful. I did it over and over a good dozen times. Jim |
