I wonder if one of you tried this gun?
I sew it and I think it has a very intresting shape, especially the hundle. I thought about buying one, so I need your opinion. thank you Ben |

it's a beatiful toy indeed, so that could be my next rubbergun: I have to replace my old 75 (a spora black viper) with a new one, and I'm in between 4 favourite choices: instinct, omer t20, excalibur carbonium and seatec trb-gabbiano (being a c4 out of my 150 euro maximum budget). every advice welcome on the 4 models, please.

Hi...
I can tell you that between the two omers , I would choose the T20, I really like how it looks, the new hundle is much better than the old one. But lets wait for a opinion about the instinct |

The Instinct was tested in the last Issue of Hawaii skin diver and found not to be very accurate straight from the box.
However after a few modifications it was deadly accurate.

It's always hard to choose if you can't test them in water: italian magazines publish articles about single items, but they're generally indulgent and make no technical comparisons between different products. So you learn how guns are made, but you never get an idea of which one is better for your purpose.
I've been told that american spearfishing magazines DO publish comparison-test articles. Isn't there anything like that published recently about those 4 guns? |

oops, i forgot the main question for huan: what modifications for accuracy? is it about the rail (or shaft-guide, or how you call it in english)? and what do they say about the "V" shaped device for double rubbers?

Basically, the mods were to flatten the barb, fit 4inch dyneema wishbones, change the shaft diameter to a different diameter and change the bands!

Hey Spaghetti, scusa mi ero dimenticato but here is the gun test.
Sorry about the fuzziness of the scans, its as big as I could make them without the forum rejecting them. Mark Last edited by Mark Laboccetta; September 20th, 2005 at 20:30. |

Hey Murat,
I saw all the excitment on the other thread about the new stuff. I'm a bit busy now but when I get a minute I'll give you and the others a run down of the stuff I tried. The Excalibur 3000 is basically a modified version of an Excalibur speargun that's been tested in Hawaii for 5 years and probably in Europe just as long if not longer since the number one modification done in Hawaii to our Excalibur is a Wendel Ko or Hammerhead open muzzle and a track. The barrel is basically a simple carbon fiber barrel with the recessed shaft guide. These mods just turned stock into an all in one package with the advent of a carbon barrel. Mark |

Hey Mark when are the new guns from omer going to be available in the US. Is the Excaliber 3000 only in Carbon or will it be in alluminum to. I would love to try them out. Hint hint. Nah Are you coming out to the hawaiiskindiver expo in 2006. I think Sterling is trying to put one on. Try looking at the hawaiiskindiver website.

its too bad they did not made elliptical and ballasted carbon barell. If they did that would be superior speargun indeed. Probably production cost put them off.....
But there are some people willing to pay for such gun. Seems seatec gabbiano and X-fire is still alone on their tracks... |

I think omer should come out with an open muzle aluminum guns for us poor guys that cant afford the carbon stuff. besides my gear takes a beating on my kayak and in my truck. My 75 omer excaliber (aluminum barrel) has lasted me about 7 or 8 years now and is still my favorite gun. Modified it of course to a daryl wong open muzzle with 2 amber bands each 14 to 16 inches in length. Easy to swing and deadly accurate.
