yes there are spearos in Holland but they all go abroad to hunt, as it is illegal to do in the Netherlands. Travelling with a sp-gun can give you a lot of questions at the airport, etc; but travelling and owning is legal only not all custom/police officers know this.

It surprises me that spearing is not legal in the netherlands as the law in the netherlands in some other areas seems openminded and constructive, at least compared to sweden.
In sweden not only spearing is illegal but also owning a speargun which falls under the same regulations as firearms. Meanwhile the baltic sea is so cleaned out by commercial fishing that according to marine biologists only a total stop of commercial fishing for several years can save the baltic sea cod from extinction. Of course sweden will not halt commercial fishing in the baltic sea. After all, it does the fish the great favor of keeping spearing illegal.

No wonder the EU is in such a mess -- nobody is standing up for their basic human rights. What kind of modern democratic society improses such Draconian restrictions on the leisure and food gathering of its citizen (apart from the NL)? Whatever happened to "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"...oh, that was America wasn't it. Well, I bet the French wouldn't be so daft, nor the Spanish ...and we could all learn a thing or two from the Italians[ What to do? Boycott Ikea |

Many of the Dutch are well behaved, meaning nicely domesticated by a meriad of ways, Schooling, the needle, chemicals in the skies, GMO food, TV. The Dutch are also a very debased and diveded culture, everything goes, nothing is normal accept for mindlessly waving a stupit flag and worshipping the queen. I would like to put an degrading term there but can serve upto 10 years in prison for offending the queen. George Orwell: "in such utopias some are [offcause] more equal than others"
Yes in the Netherlands too the resistance is well managed by the dominent minority. Maybe it's time for some civil disobediance? Love, Courage and Water, Kars
