In accordance with fuzz and his statements, yeah i agree there shouldn’t be fighting between fellow ocean lovers. I was a deep sea fisherman long before i took my first dive. And the thrill of the catch is almost as good as the thrill of spearing. But ..... and here is my reservations. All the fisherman I know that catch for sport or food, would have cut the line the minute they felt it was a shark on the line.

Sharks are strong but not the most exhilarating catch one can make, if your a true sports fisherman you would go after big game fish, that’s not only great fun to catch but also makes for excellent cuisine. (do you really think that guy and his family is going to eat that shark?) Killing a shark for a trophy is utterly ridiculous, and if this guy had any love for the ocean and respect for the creatures it contains. He would have tagged and released the shark. And not just slaughter it for the sake of a good catch and a pic he can take to his buddies and brag about.

And that fuzz is what annoys me about this. I have no quarrels spearing of fishing, but there is no reason to kill a shark since there are much nicer fish to catch, anybody that has ever caught a 90kg Tuna on 50kg break strength line would know what I’m talking about.

what the hell this thread is about killing sharks, and the feelings around that everyone is entitled to their own opinion if you dont like somebody else's opinion then make a note of it but lets not turn this thread into an argument.

And now for a comment on the Shark.

MY GOD I bet that half broke your arm landing it, it's huge and I must admit I would hate to come face to face with that on one of my dives , more so since I live in sunny old paignton in the uk

well scottwilson, if memory servers me correct (which it hardly ever does) mako's can grow up too 4m and 500KG that one is barely over 2m and 228KG so its pretty small.

But i would probably crap myself in any event and thats why we stock up on neoprene shampoo
