I'm in Portugal, and will be moving to peterborough in september. Are there any hunting places in these counties (Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk or Lincolnshire) ? Where can I go to get a spearfishing license?

You do not need a license to spearfish in the Uk; I personally am unfamiliar with the areas you mention but here is webpage for British Spearfishing Association;

Hi Snig,

Don't mean to put a dampener on things, but those counties are all in the North Sea / East Coast - very, very murky water. I used to go surfing at Cromer in Norfolk and remember not being able to see my hand 6 inches below the surface. I'm sure it is occasionally clear, but not very often. However, the UK is not big and in about 2 hours you can get to the south coast where you can get some good spearing...you don't need a license, but just be aware some people get a bit funny about spearguns on the beach...if you need to ask anything give me a shout. hope this helps!

East coast vis is non existant from Essex to the Wash, shifting sand banks as far as the eye can see.

Hi all,

I live on the east coast in Lincolnshire and there is no viz at all, I mostly drive down to Sussex and fish there once a week, it's about 3 1/2 hours from peterborough.
