on a serious side, youre quite right, the northern red sea has been pretty barren lately. i went trolling with my dad for hours last weekend, nothing!..
there were many fishing boats at night though, thats probably why ![]() ![]()

So many times in my Thyrrenic Sea (central West coast of Italy) the only catch is a coat of water: no fish. It's the effect of intensive net fishery.
But anyway, there is also a "seasonality" in fish behaviour, and a relation with currents and temp. A cold current can move whole stocks of fish on some days. In our waters, a day of strong wind from north will push all reef fish to stay hidden in holes and cracks. Et cetera, et cetera et cetera

I also received info. from an experienced friend that fish do tend to partial hibernate in Winter........their metabolism slows down, so they don't move much nor venture out for food as they would normally and do not mate during the Cold...so this kind of explains their limited activity
....Maybe....or Marwan & I have become so good we've emptied out what's left in our area ![]() Cheers Ihab |

Hi.
Here in Norway the situation is that the fish go deeper. The surface water is only 1°C, and i guess it gets warmer the deeper you go. I also believe the hibernation theory. But in mid-april everything changes drastically! The "mating" period starts, and there are plenty of hungry, big, horny and confused fish flying around only a few meters down. I CAN'T WAIT!! |

well i dont know i was further north i was visiting friends in Camogli near portofino and we went up to sori and there were quite a few sarago moving around very small though and i shot one and broke it up and it stirred up a whole lot of little fish out from rocks and caves.. and before long the orate were moving in and i found the best way to take them way to shoot up at them from a still position under them... spaghetti i did serve in the US Army as a SF sniper so im a pretty good shot with a real gun but the underwater world is a whole new thing and im gettin the hang of it finally .. and all summer every day in liguria four or five hours a day i got the hang the area as well so... ive never fished that area how is it normally that way during the spring and summer.. when are you up for goin fishing any ways we have been talkin about it for while now...?
