April 9th & 10th Ft Lauderdale

Whopperhead and I are going to be in Florida at the beginning of April for FIT in Ft Lauderdale. The 9th and 10th we are looking to go out spearing. If anyone with a boat is available, that is ideal of course (isn't it always??). Otherwise, what are the shore dive locations? Can anyone help a couple of Midwestern saltwater spearo newbs out?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Whopperhead can go on the runner, I'll go in the boat! If you guys are up to go on those days, let us know. We can chip in for gas or meet you for a shore dive.

If the weather permits its a sure thing... headed outa Miami...If I set up the dinghy (for the gear) in that time maybe, just maybe we can do 3...you fellows Big Northerners

Big northerners? Nah...I'm 6'4 225lbs. Scotts a land monster though he's like 5'3 350lbs!

Edit: Scott and I at Lake Michigan. Maybe he's a little taller than 5'3 and not quite 350

5'3"! c'mon Andre the Giant! I'm 5'11" and about 200# ILDiver is more like 7'4" look at that pic- He's Ginormous!!!! That Day I offered him a protein energy bar, he said "no thanks" and then ate a poodle!!!! Behind his back I call him Shrek (but don't tell him that)

I don't know if you guys have mid week during the day to go out spearing, I know it's a tough time to get out. Are there any charter boats that take freedivers out to spearfish? Or any other good ideas? If you can get out and go with us/take us...GREAT!

Dang, glad I asked...ILDiver whatya eat growing up...You need to be on one of them Cruise ships headed out of the Port.

I'll see if I can set it up on a ship, er,eh I mean boat...don't get your hopes up to high April is notorious for strong winds...but you never know

A daytime dive with the locals is your best bet, but, if that doesn't come off, there is a night dive in Miami that can be a hoot and score you some tasty protein. Parts of it can be sheltered, depending on wind direction. PM me if you need to.

Connor, one option may be looking in the St Pete to Sarasota area and staying with my parents a few extra days.

there is a good chance that i will have the boat out one of those days. If the weather permits, of course. You guys are welcome to join us. If all goes well, I will be on the boat Sunday,and/or possibly Tuesday(with the FIT class, practicing) we can talk then. You cheesheads are gonna have fun!
