Pending World Record Bluefin...MIAMI

Just caught word that a pending new world record Bluefin Tuna got shot in Miami about a mile outa Government Cut, any of you familiar with the species knows this is practically impossible...the Spearo (a tourist of all things) said he was schooling with a few monster yellowfins, to add to this is the fact he shot it with a JBL (if I heard correctly) and stoned it...I'm headed to KB Marina to take some pictures...will be back with a full report

Re: Pending World Record Bluefin...MIAMI

Guys name is Tabiko Boberia...the BF measured over 12', and they needed SeaTow to bring them in in that it was shot off a jetski...amazing...story goes as they were headed into the Cut a Cruise ship was held for them to come in...Channel Seven's Eye in the Sky shot the whole thing its on TV right now...I can see the guy waving the tiny JBL...I can't believe it

Re: Pending World Record Bluefin...MIAMI

Mahi thats the one I thought too they were the guys that wanted to take it to KB (Key Biscayne) Marina...they caught that BF in the same area, and are the ones claiming the guy used a powerhead, I didn't see no hole inicating such ...on another note the Boberia guy never saw anyother other than the one he shot...he said he didn't know it was even a BFjust that it looked like a Sub...did you hear him talking on the TV...surely Japanese, those guys are sooo lucky ...

Diver Spears World Record Tuna
BY Susan Crocking

Tahitian, Tabiko Boberia, never imagined his vacation of sun and fun on South Beach would land him a potential world record pelagic.

On an early morning half-day charter trip out of KB Marina, Mr. Boberia and his wife Comiendo landed a fish of a lifetime. Charter Captain, Manuel Guayaba commented, "I never seen a fish this size in these waters in 30 years!". Boberia was snorkeling in open water for mackeral and dolphin when from the depths the fish appeared as if from a Melville novel.

"I see the fish and I shoot the fish". Boberia uttered in his broken english. The 38 year old Tahitian, is surely to become a national hero in his native island of Kimbombo. He and his wife are scheduled for a celebration later today at Larios On The Beach with family and friends.

The 667 pound Atlantic Bluefin Tuna is pending IBSRC certificati

Diver Spears World Record Tuna Contd.
BY Susan Crocking

An interesting development after a very large pelagic fish, a 667lb Bluefin tuna, rarely seen off the shores of South Florida was caught by a visiting Tahitian Tabiko Boberia. "Apparently Mr. Boberia was not in possession of a valid Florida saltwater fishing license" said FWC official Pedro Porlacola. It remains to be seen to what degree Florida law will be applied in these unusual circumstances. The fish was caught a mile off shore which falls within state jurisdiction.

This could make things difficult for Boberia who intended to pursue IBSRC world record certification for this species. Further a sponsorship contract with JBL that has been in the works since the early afternoon may not materialize. This is a no win situation for all involved, JBL is known be suffering sluggish sales as of late.

Boberia is a well known spearfisher in his native small town of Quecono, Kimbombo Tahiti. He is a manger of a sporting goods outlet who supplemented his income by selling fish for 10 years to save enough money for this trip to Miami, Florida. "It was wedding anniversary gift to wife comiendo" said a tired but happy Boberia who maintained a positive attitude despite the latest development.

Re: Pending World Record Bluefin...MIAMI

Wow total BS, now the LAW is prob gonna fry his ass, i hope the state of Florida does not take this way over their head, hopefully no big charges or anything of that matter. I'm pretty sure he is going to suffer if they fine him. I wish him luck and congratulate him.

Wonder if he used an explosive head though.
