June 8, 2008 {Spearfishing Report}

Hello fellow spearos! Well 2day my dad and I went on for a little fishing since fathers day is coming I wanted to give him an early father days present.

Left kind of late out of Black Point marina 7:30AM definitely to late to be leaving IMO. Anyways we headed out, and I assumed the vice captain position for once! Showed him how to operate my boat and get on place just using the tabs since I have a jack plate on the back. Hit the 1st & only spot and I saw nothing for half a minute but a few feet ahead things took a turn for the best.

1st shot was of a mutton, shot missed and there goes a f#$k then I realized how i hate taking shots from the above so I didn't blame my self like I would have normally done. Anyways, I continue to fight with my mono and load my gun and hit my 1st Mutton Snapper! 14.5cm . Then continued to a very nice hog, which was 18.5cm long. I kept diving around and noticed a nice cubera, shot it from the top and nailed it, I told my dad to come where the rocks where since there are fish there and he can fish with his rods, he starts going to it and it just so happens that the anchor does not want to anchor the boat. We tried but nothing, probably to strong of a current.

As I give up on trying to hand over the fish to him, I load the gun and hope it does not rip due to the mono when I shot. Sunddenly, I see a nice looking BARACUDA coming my way. I think he was eying my cubera. So I go after her and she starts to dip, but turns around and I see her looking at my struggling fish. So I suddenly look @ my gun and decided to load my 2nd band just in case! I drop and BOOOOM! she starts going crazy so I begin fighting with her and eventually bagged her. She gave me a very nice fight and a hell of an experience.

Nice job on the cuda, what did you do with him? Once they'r that big you gota be careful with ciguatera. Congrats on your mutt BTW!

Whats up with the fins did you get to take them on a solid test run on your day out? I'm sure they were sweet

You mean with her, Bro I did the Cuban TEST! moscas por todas partes and it's GOOD!, cut her up in ruedas! turns out she was pregnant if i would have know I would had not shot. Any ways she gave me a hell of a fight let me tell you. Dude the fins performed as expected requete f*c#inG GREAT! and I have not test it in deep water I dove 15-18ft. Chances are I won't test them till i get a good day to go out meaning weather wise! send me email address so you can see the pic since its to big to post. Fins are there.

PS: my dad is going to make a soup with the head! lol they already ate the guevas!

Cuda is pretty damn good bro, glad to hear you guys are making the best of it all haha! I hear if you try feeding a cat a raw piece and she don't go for its got ciguatera... or if you poke the meat while fresh and it doesn't bounce back its a sign supposedly.... Bro I need to test some carbon fins out lol

Edit: BTW; Did you have a float line or reel? or did she take you for a ride lol

I had neither, just my hands bro! yeah she pulled me quite hard but I think my shot f*cked her up pretty damn bad but she did circles and kinda tangled the mono on my neck lol and chest. <{ not to as serious as it sounds really}

But I manage her pretty damn good, since I've been giving directions on how to handle them from fellow spearfishers. Perhaps I got a little tangle because I was eager to get the shaft and her tail that way I can control her which I ended up doing any ways.

WTG man nice cuban king!!! and that hog is sweeeet...alot of fish in this time are gonna have jueveras...I try to not shoot any female hogs till mid july, all other fish are fair game for me....glad to see the fins worked out fine...you seem rather proud posing with one fin on....I vote new name for Arman...OneFinOn...I like it

And Cuchillo you never seize to amaze me resizing Armans pic and all...you truly are one sharp guy

How did you know I posse with one fin on? did Mahi showed you the pic? I don't remember posting it? I tried but it was simply to big. any ways.

Bro I am really proud of my carbons they are really something! it's really hard to describe them all I have to say is you have to try these blades.
They are so soft and responsive at the same time I also believe they conserve a little bit of oxygen thus, giving you a little more time down there.

Ohhhhh you mean in the picture! ahahah I didn't have the fin on dude it was just there cuz I took a pic showing it with the fish Mahiman has it! he saw the full carbontek fin + the fishes!
