dome port or flat port

Hi i am malta spearo and am planning on getting a panasonic nv-gs250 video camera . but i cant find a housing for this camera. and was thinking of making my own housing . and using ikelite controls which i sould patiently figure out. my problem is weather i should use a flat port or dome port .or no port at all for that mater. what is the difference. iv seen diy housings with no port at all just a plexiglas front. what would be the resaults if i did this.will i still get good picture quality if i dont use a dome port. something like thishttp://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/personal/pdh/housing/ or this http://mynock.dhs.org/cam_housing/index.shtml or thishttp://groups.msn.com/Divelight/diyvideocamerahousing.msnw?albumlist=2
see what i mean none of these have a dome port or any port for that mater. what kind of pictur quality will i get with that kind of setup. i was also woondering if i can get a normal port from ikelite and using it and attaching diferent lens ports .any good advice will be much apriciated.
