im tempted (u/w housing 4 1d2)

Should I? Its either this, or the $7,000 from seacam or ikelite or something like that or buy a 20D + housing for about 2,300$. I know the housings are more expensive for a reason. But the one I linked is rated to 150 feet and I dont go beyond 100 feet anyways.

I personally think that you will be sorely disappointed in the EWA housing.

You should look at getting a Nikon D50 or D70 or Canon Digital Rebel and look for a housing to fit them. Fantasea makes a housing for less than $1000 USD for the D70.

The EWA housings are a joke...

Re: im tempted (u/w housing 4 1d2)

It's a joke because it IS a plastic bag.

You can only take it down about 30'- and that's not even a given. The whole thing collapses around your camera and becomes very difficult to use any of the controls. To try and get some extra depth out of them you can try to blow them up, like a balloon, and then take them down, but the bouyancy becomes a big problem. They are really only intended for thing like rafting and rain forrests.

The Ikelite housing would be your best, cheaper, bet.

Digital cameras are changing way to fast for me right now to eventhink of dropping that kind of coin on a camera system that I would want to upgrade in a few years anyhow.

Re: im tempted (u/w housing 4 1d2)

sorry i thought they did do a housing for them,
i just loked at the camera you have and it looks like a pretty seroius and expensive camera if you really want to take good pictures and protect the camera i would get a real housing or just go the 20d.

can you get different ports for the ewa housings? and how good are they. it would be a waste to have such a good camera in a cheap housing and not be able to get the picture quality you want becuase of cheap ports
