Re: Making underwater camera housing for 19$

Looks like it could be worth a try! I've wanted an underwater video housing for ages, as I would love to become an underwater camera operator......unfortunatly all my equipment got stolen while on holiday in spain!

I wouldn't trust my camera in that thing!

I think it would be FAR better to use one of those cheap plastic bags designed to be used for such a purpose.

Re: Making underwater camera housing for 19$

I think putting the glass on the front (and also use a strengthened perspex I reckon, glass can break/shatter) so that the pressure of the water against the plastic would also provide a sealant.

I would also test the device with tissue paper in down to -15 (if that's the depth you are planning on taking it too, but again I am not sure whether it will hold, but then again, the only to find out is to test it!) So that if there are any leaks you will know becuse the tissue paper will be destroyed.

let me know how it goes, as I may end up making one!

Those plastic bags, I find, tend to crack around the seams as they dry out.

Re: Making underwater camera housing for 19$

i think its a pretty good idea, but not very practical as it wastes tons of film. I use a digital camera (Canon Powershot A95) with a video feature for all of my filming, and i would rather spend the 250 bucks to get a real waterproof housing.
