Underwater Sony video camera w/o original software. Conversion quality problem AVS

I just bought a refurbished sony video camera (dcr pc 350) with equinox underwater housing. The camera works fine, but the problem comes from the fact that I did not received the sony original software CD which I suppose the camera is sold with.
Now, I have a lot of headaches with video conversion which is necessary because I need to save it on DVD and the original video size is bigger than DVD size.
I’m not an expert in computers and I downloaded the video converter AVS which makes the conversion, but in Windows Media Player the video converted with AVS has poor quality, the movie image being split with horizontal lines making it almost unviewable.
Is there any chance to find to buy the original software for this camera? Or is there any solution to configure AVS to get rid of this problem from Windows Media Player?

Surely, You can play video into movie maker from the camera via USB cable then edit and choose the level of compression/quality. Thats What I do with a mini DV camera.

sometimes vertical lines are a sign that the heads need cleaning.

After many searches and lots of headaches, I have now a 'menu' of freeware programs that do the job with very good results. super converter (avi to mpeg) is one of them and has a lot of options. And vlc video player is also free and works far better then the windows player. however, movie maker remains an option. thanks
