Panasonic TZ3 underwater video

I have the TZ3 and there is a great UW casing available, but I want to take simple videos UW for the likes of Youtube. Has anyone done this? In general, how does the video come out of higher end PS cameras with just the standard UW housing. I don't want to go to the expense and bulk of strobes and external lights.

I will be filming up to 20M in 5M typical vis.

Opinions greatly appreciated.

Did you ever get the housing?

I just bought the TZ5, and the housing that goes with it, but haven't had a chance to try it out in the water yet.

Re: Panasonic TZ3 underwater video

azapa- Looking forward to your videos- I do several videos and NEVER use external Lighting - usually no need for it. Depending on the editing software you use- you can do alot to the video to make it come out better- also depends on how much time you want to invest in the video productions.

Jon- i'm also looking forward to your videos - (I need more Bubblebee Tuna!) I play your video at work to get the song stuck in my co-worker's heads.

Re: Panasonic TZ3 underwater video

The reason I decided to go with this camera over the G9 was the HD video recording mode.

It uses up an 8GB card in 33 minutes- so I may need to get and extra harddrive like you did!

Re: Panasonic TZ3 underwater video

Jon,
Yes I did and am very very happy with it. It certainly is not cheap but I can not fault the quality.

Funny you should ask right now, as yesterday I had the experience of a lifetime, and probably justified the entire purchase cost:

I was luck enough to swim with a 10M long right whale and her newborn calf, right in front of my beach house. I will publish the video (it's VERY bad as I was nervous and the viz was bad) but it is a testament to the experience. BTW you may be thinking it's common to see whales here: it's not, its the first sighting in the area in about 6 years!

Cheers
