Re: Live from Egypt 2006

Short info about the pool at WC Egypt.

The first pool was 33,33 meter long with 8 lanes. Perfect depth 175cm-190cm, little cold(18 celsius) little tricky in the turns BUT with one training in the pool ...the turns is no problems.

The second pool, that will be the one we will use is 49,7 meter long(?) and 29,79 meter wide, 15 start blocks but only 14 lanes(?). 18 celsius and perfect depth 180cm. (everything like a normal EU-swimming pool when it comes to the shape)

Me and the Danish team had a GOOD look at both pools and also whent in to check the effect of the low temp. No BIG problems if you can make the warmup outside of the pool. We did our dives in speedos... and did a good training.

(both pools is 16 celsius early in the morning, but when the sun comes it rise to 18)

/B

It is though sad to see the gloomy faces of teams who already in the first discipline are gone from the top ranking due to red cards. Mostly this is because of too high AP. One must never underestamate the stress of a big comp: Trimix bubbles creating cold and currents and lower visibility. Cameramen with lights, shouting through loudspeakers , half a fotball team around the line, live television e t c.

Now its all about who stays healthy:

Using Sebastien Murat's method, I can personally confirm that once the shock-vasoconstriction response has been developed, the above 'stressful' factors can be converted into a huge advantage, allowing dives deeper than in training....

Re: Live from Egypt 2006

I can add a little, Maytag, but I don't know how much you know and maybe I will be patronising you!

Sebastien dives like a seal, without full lungs, edives (empty). This has many advantages; the main, I think, is that you get the biggest (by far) Diving Response. Since the DR is a response to shock, things that stress you out actually help the size of the response and you can do a deeper and longer one-off dive.
