Yes. But this and many other examples wear my reasons to send this video.
See the fotos. Sebastians decision was 100% the current rules. My hand was on the wall 2/10 sec before my mouth surfaced. (minus 10pt or 20m for what?)

My good - this will turn into football - where everything a judges does is filmed and if he does a misstake hundreds of fans will hate him.

Re: 9th Berlin Master Cup 2007, 24th Feb.

If only we had hundreds of fans turning up to competitions

As far as I can see on that video, the ruling was perfect, it's the rule that is questionable to some people.

If someone pulls themselves up at the end, the only real advantage they're getting is the length of their arm which would be roughly a metre. Why penalise them 20m? And (my opinion only) if they are that close to LMC/BO when they pull themselves up at the end, then it's likely that they will fail the 15sec surface protocol anyway.

Anyway if people want the rule changed, they should start petitioning AIDA Intl.

Sorry, I don't want to sidetrack this thread and detract from the Berlin competitors - perhaps we should open another thread?

Cheers,
Ben

Re: 9th Berlin Master Cup 2007, 24th Feb.

Just ridiculous that a performance gets so many penalty points for something like this... And the idea that the rule applies to everybody shouldn't be the reason to say that the rule is okay.

Sometimes people forget that we're freediving and not in F1 racing! Just KISS (keep it simple stupid). For sure many people have already gone away for competitions because of the incredible rules, I know already a handfull if not more. People train for months for 1 attempt and then they get DQ or big penalty for something that doesn't even help them in the distance.

So what if someone pulls one time on the rope if he's coming up for air, or graps the site of the pool before his head comes up, or pushes himself from the floor up. Maybe static should be the same... don't touch the wall untill your head is up! hehe, that will definitely increase spectators with all the problems.

And don't forget! Just my opinion... ;-)

Re: 9th Berlin Master Cup 2007, 24th Feb.

Right you are Jorg.
And the board and the tech committe of Aida are thinking about these issues. It might be decied by them or it will have to wait for the next vote (we just had one).

Wolle - problem is. All judges sometimes makes misstakes. Usually in the favor of athletes. But my reply was a joke.
I think its good with lots of video, photo and public acess to comps e t c. If you cant stand "the heat" as a judge - dont apply for judging.

Sebastian

Re: 9th Berlin Master Cup 2007, 24th Feb.

We should defenetly make this a new threat.

My mask was fludded and so I could not measure the distance to the ground any more. I got my penalties for lifting my heals out of the water four times. That is 40m penalty. I can not see how my heals out of the water would gain me this distance...

Maybe we can make this a sport or some sort of discipline. Try and gain as many penalties on a 100m dive as you can so you come up with -x points...
Start before or after OT, heals out at every stroke, not touch the wall when turning (very good in a 25m pool), push off the bottom and still manage to pull up before surfacing. How much is that?

I guess these people have many other excuses to save own face. And 25m DYN is good example of hard training. I can't see any problem with a current rules.

Re: 9th Berlin Master Cup 2007, 24th Feb.

And back to the topic:

"Gammel Dansk" ("Old Danish") it is called, 38% bitter: Gammel Dansk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We had a medium-long wait before the award ceremony and Kasper was careless enough to tell us that he had brought a bottle, so...

There are actual clubs that celebrate this beverage, but I don't think there is one in Berlin yet, even though we tried our best... at that too

Gammel Dansk is an extremely popular alcoholic beverage in Denmark, which is often drunk in the morning with the breakfast meal.

Re: 9th Berlin Master Cup 2007, 24th Feb.

Dispair not you may,

If you do not live in Denmark, or don't have access to a steady supply of gammel dansk, you might have access to one of the following excellent alternatives. (For the less experienced, I have tried to rank them with respect to bitternes, if you don't agree in this ranking please forgive my sometimes faint memory)

Fernet Branca
Ramazotti
Gammel Dansk
Jägermeister
Appenzeller
Averna

In Denmark we have other alternatives, a precise ranking of theese with the respect to the list above will have to rely on future tests.
Nordsø Olie (eg North Sea Oil) Små Grå (little grey ones, refering to the lost brain cells) Gajol Shots, Fishermans Friend.

ok, I think you've got the point, just remember: allways i the morning!

And don't drink and dive

[sorry]

\Kasper

Re: 9th Berlin Master Cup 2007, 24th Feb.

Ok, I'm good... I have found 4 out of the 5 alternatives in the liqueure store just outside my office. And that is where I am usually in the morning...

Lets see what my boss thinks about introducing some Danish customs...
