Went last year was my first comp and was bloody amazing.

Organisation was great, was cheap and included 2 nights accomadation and dinner with everyone on the last night. I arrvied to my hotel room and got a phone call in the hour from Panos asking if I was coming "Depth" training the next day, so so cool.

It was in Loutraki about 1 1/2 hour drive from Athens, really easy to do or you can train / bus it. The dive site was about 20 mins away from hotel, and was basically a small beach with an ancient greek amplitheatre(however you spell it) above it. Water dropped to 40m+ just 20m from shore, and the actually comp day the boat was only 100m from short and had 110m+ for Herbet.

The whole set up was great, and really well organised by Panos and Aida Hellas.

I dont think I will make it this year, unless I can find someone rich to take care of me, or I get sacked, both work I am flexible!

If I have any time from work I will be going, but at the momoent I need 3 weeks off for Triple Depth and W/C in Sharm (I hope anyway).

So not sure whether I can get enough time off, we shall see. A bit hard to go for a long weekend, min would be thu - mon.

For people that are thinking of entering I would suggest you get your registration in as soon as possible as the Greek athletes (and there are a lot of those) are all going to register together in the last two weeks of August and the places are going to disappear overnight when that happens.

how does the subscribing work? We subscribe one depth and discipline in advance and then another on the Friday? is that right?

if so, can we do the same discipline twice?

So you need to announce your FIRST DAY's (Sat 15th) performance by Wednesday 12th.

Subscriptions for the SECOND DAY's (Sun 16th) performances can be handed in at any time up to 1 hour after the 1st day's results are announced (this will be on Saturday afternoon). The second day's subscriptions will be collected at the official competition hotel.

Athletes can select to dive in any dicipline (CWT/CNF/FIM) on any of the two days. Athletes can select to dive on the same dicipline on both days.

If you need any more info just let me know

The second day's subscriptions will be collected by the organisers at the official competition hotel (a special box will be placed near the information board at the hotel lobby marked “2nd day announcements”).

ØAnnounced performance (in meters)
ØPersonal Best Performance in the announced discipline
ØExpected dive time of announced performance

Athletes can select to dive in any discipline (CWT/CNF/FIM) on any of the two days. Athletes can select to dive on the same discipline on both days.

Go to greece, went last year and was amazing, most amazing dive site off the beach with an ancient greece amplitheathre just above. Organisation was amazing, and then there is the food, mmmmm.......... am jealous have fun guys

Hey All,
We dove at the competition site yesterday and just thought I'd let you know about the conditions.

Yesterday with Northern winds of 3-4 strength the sea was completely calm in Loutraki (Heraio is very well protected with high mountains towering over the dive site)

Surface temperature was at 26C and the first thermocline I met was at ~40-42m and it must have been about 20C bellow it (it felt quite chilly to me but I guess thats me being spoiled ) - I expect the thermocline to be a few meters deeper for the comp as the hot days are persisting here in Greece with outside temp in the high 30s all through August

Visibility was somewhere in the 25m range.

Good news is that all stinging jellyfish have dissapeared :P

There was no current either at the surface or at depth which was also quite nice (it is not uncommon to have deep currents in Heraio)
