A bit early yet, but are there any details on this comp (who has entered, is it a heats/finals comp etc.) floating around? If I recall there's always been some big big performances in the kiwi comps.
Cheers, Ben

We plan to post announcements on the Lazy Seal Freediving Club website competitions page the night before and results should be up the evening after (NZ time is about 12 hours ahead of Europe). If you go to the notices page there's an outline of how the competition will be run. Lazy Seals Free Diving Club
Entries just closed and we have 10 competitors: Chris Marshall, Clemens Neumann (from Berlin), Craig Young (1st comp), Gavin Grey, Guy Brew, Kerian Hibbs, Marcus Thompson, Phil Clayton, Ruth Griffin (British) and me. Usual story - having trouble finding women to take part! |

Very interesting. Is there a friendly battle going on for Guy's national STA record? 7:24 is out of my current skill range but may be quite achievable by some of the competitors in this competition.
Good luck to all! (NZ National records are at quite a high standard!) http://www.apneamania.com/code/worldrec_main.asp?typeID=nr&countryID=36

Official results will be up on the lazy seal website soon. We've just enjoyed a very nice afternoon BBQ at Guy's house.
Kerian, STA, 6:20 Clemens, STA, 6:04, DYN 78m (penalty for early start) Me, DNF, 150m, NR Ruth, DYN (with tiny fins), 125m (penalty for pushing off bottom at end) Phil, DNF, 125m Gavin did 3min STA, but it won't show on official results as he's a judge. All the rest were DQ. The pool is great for no fins: 25m, easy slope from 1.2m to 2m deep, 27 degrees. |
