Re: Sweden won the Finnkampen title

Hes got the stroke rate right down doesnt he. Splits 28,30,25,23,23,19.Fairly quick i think.
Doesnt look like he packs that much. Great job.

Re: Sweden won the Finnkampen title

Yep, Nathan, Anders has it kinda for "free" since he has a long history as a competitive swimmer. But even he have to work to get it all rigth when it counts the most, he's a great guy to have in the team and train with.

Anders told me after the dive that he wasn't expecting much from his dive, just went out there and had fun. When his coach "tapped" him, He feelt that he had strengt to do one more arm stroke, and then exit.
Was a great moment to watch it all take place, a fine dive to end a great competition.

Re: Sweden won the Finnkampen title

I enjoyed watching that swim, nice relaxed turns. I wonder why he does a dolphin kick with the arm stroke? The kick itself is quite inefficient, but it may be that he would otherwise be half-way between strokes for 25m, and it rounds him down. Didn't seem like a huge amount of packing.

They only thing that really pointed my eye was the amount of air he took with him. There were pretty many mouthfulls he packed.

Looking forwad to getting myself in those events.
Well I noticed the same thing, but to me, it was surprisingly little packing for that caliber of performance.

I counted "only" 15, where as Tom Sietas does 80-90 packs. Even my self over 30 for that puny 100m dive. Of course there are different styles of packing - some do small but many, others large volume but few. But even in the latter case I think 15 is quite conservative for an experienced "packer".

Re: Sweden won the Finnkampen title

Hi Jome

More of a personal though that Anders and I keep coming back too, the amount of air is as you all would agree on, ain't static. It's differs from time to time.
Some dives the first big breath ain't 100% ok, but you can manage it with a "clever" pack, and some dives the first is bigger and better than "normal" and packing is adjusted to that. But on occasion I personally feel to packed, but keep diving with too full lungs, just to adapt.
But lately it has been more moderate packing or less than usual and still room to improve in length or time of the dive.
