Suunto Watches Good For Measuring Depth?

Hello!
Can the regular Suunto watches be used to judge depth? Their altimeter models say they can measure between -500m-9000m...so that would incorporate most free dives correct?

not under water

I believe the altimeter models, measure air pressure. So, -500m is somewhere below sea level (dead sea walley), but not underwater.
-500m in air is something like 0.5m underwater.
