Re: Cressi-Sub Focus Vs. Cressi-Sub Big Eyes

Seacidal I am looking for a good multi-purpose mask that I can use for free diving and snorkeling and maybe some scuba when I get to that. I was thinking Big Eyes for their view and tryed them on at my local dive shop along with the Focus and Superocchio. However I am wondering on how they would work when I start to go deeper since they do have a bigger lenses even though they say low volume.

Re: Cressi-Sub Focus Vs. Cressi-Sub Big Eyes

Sorry, benzsk8, for my late reply.

I havenīt tried a seal swimming mask so far, but I would say the lenses have almost the same size.

If you want, I can post a picture of my Minima, comparing with the Mares X-Vision Liquid Skin and my girlfriends Tusa Splendive 2.

Also I have 1 question. When I tried on the Superocchio the air in the nose felt tight is that normal with this mask because I like the look and feel of the mask on me just wanted to make sure that is ok.

Re: Cressi-Sub Focus Vs. Cressi-Sub Big Eyes

I tried the BIG EYES and MATRIX the other day in the pool. Both were good but the MATRIX felt softer on my face. Proberly because it was newer and the silicone was softer. I will be definitely ordering a MATRIX tomorrow.

Re: Cressi-Sub Focus Vs. Cressi-Sub Big Eyes

I love my Focus I always seem to grab it at the last minute. I fell in love with it the second I tryed it on. its clear so it cheers up cloudy day dives. It also clears easily with just a puff, nice for cold weather diving. How ever I use colored skirt Alien for spearfishing. As you may already gather many of us use more than one

Cressi Big Eyes are great! but they have the new model now the Matrix which has the much bigger and wider vision, and also good for freediving, we use that here in Cebu City, Philippines...

Re: Cressi-Sub Focus Vs. Cressi-Sub Big Eyes

I have a Cressi Matrix and like it very much. It is the mask I've had longest. Volume issue depends on how deep you are going - I think it is often overstated as a problem. I also have an Omer Alien and the Technisub marina/micromask and Technisub sphera.
The marina/micromask is my favorite - but the alien has the softest silicone and is also very good. Sphera is great but the lenses scratch easily.

For field of view they go like this

Sphera _ side to side and up is unbeatable - fragile - poor downward view
Matrix - side to side - second only to sphera - down best of all - up good - try it on before you by it - fit can be tricky
Marina/micromask - good side to side and up - excellent down - more delicate fit than any of the others
Alien - Like micromask - just not quite as good - best fit of any
