The ones marked 11-13 are a little too big, with the heel being kind of loose. I am wondering if it will come off under hard kicking. If I pull the blade while wearing a non-neoprene fin sock (can't remember what she called it), the heel will come loose. It didn't happen with a neoprene sock, but it was loose. It fit well in the toe and arch area.
The ones marked 11-12 fit well in the heel, but were too tight in the arch and toe area. I've read that I can take up extra space by padding my sock with extra neoprene, or I can stretch it by heating it (either with hat water, a very low powered hair drier, or leaving it out in the S Fla sun) and putting some type of stretching device in it and then storing it with something in the arch area to maintain the extra space. Which would you suggest?

I can only promise that leaving it out in the Sun will errode the rubber, and you'll be back here wondering why they broke so soon.
I've gone the stretching route and the rubber seemed to want to fatigue and split earlier than I felt necessary, as well. The usual fix for your situation is to either go find a different brand of footpocket, (I find the Picasso's are a tad smaller, though also narrower) or go with a thicker sock and either way, wear fin retainers or fixe palmes. Hope this helps.

I was thinking along the same lines, that trying to mod a smaller pocket might not be a good idea, but thought I'd ask the people with the experience just to be sure.
That's too bad about the picassos being narrower, because I have a wide foot. I gues I'll have to try the larger Omers. Thanks.

If you go the neoprene route and it doesn't work, you can still try stretching. I've put a heel pad in the back of the pocket because I like to go barefoot. 3, 5 or 7 mm to experiment with. When you get one to work, it's easy to glue it in. The other way is cut the front 5 inches off of a sock and use it to stop your foot from going in as far but you said your heel is loose so it will work better with the heel pad wrapped around the sides too. I also tried a 2 mm toe cap (just 2-3 inches long) and it stops the blisters and broken toe nails.

I think I'll go for a dip in the Atlantic Bathtub Basin myself after I get my fins tomorrow. I better be careful, though. I've heard if you go below 10 or 15 feet, there is a thermocline and it could go clear down into the 70s. Things start to get scary at those temperatures, you know.OK, the new guy's gonna shut up now. On the serious side, though, I appreciate the helpful advice from everybody. The shop opens at 6:30am, so I should be in the water fairly early. Who knows, maybe I'll even bring home something to eat.
